1996 Trans Am Fans

I Gotta 96 Trans Am The Fans Won't Turn On Automatically I Gotta Have The A/C On For Them To Turn On I Have The Connection That Runs To The Water Pump Connected And They Don't turn On I Disconnect It And They Turn On, How Far Does The Temp Gauge Needle Gotta Go B4 The Fan Turns On.. Thanks.

Pretty sure they are supposed to come on at 221 unless you are going at a certain speed.

Low speed fans come on at 221 and the high speed at 235 without the A/C on.
The reason they come on when you disconnect the temp sensor is because that's the default safety feature for the fans.
( actually the voltage feedback sensed by the PCM goes to zero, which tells the PCM the temp is over 235 )

If your engine is over heating and the fans don't turn on, I would suspect that the temps sencor is bad and needs replaced.
They do fail.

Thanks I Wouldn't Let My Car Just Sit Turned On Cuz I Thought It Would Over Heat But At 226 Degrees The Fan Came On.
