Anything and everything that doesn't include internal motor work, forced induction, or nitrous.

I have actually been wondering the same thing. What all does the term "bolt-ons" entail?

Mr.Luos said it. Basically anything that doesn't entail a bunch of work. CAI, pulleys, exhaust, intake, etc. Anything that doesn't have to do with engine work or some power adder (FI and Nitrous).

Because it isn't really specific, basically exactly what I said.
Many will try to push the limits....claim it when it isn't. Gets to be funny.

This... for example even before going FI my T/A was still beyond bolt ons. I think once you get into head work/intake porting etc its beyond bolt on.

I would even hesitate to call a cam a "bolt on" mod.

A cam is internal work, I wouldn't consider it a bolt-on by any stretch.

Some consider a cam to be bolt on.

IMHO a "bolt on" is anything relatively simple like exhaust, intake, ignition system. Otherwise known as the first baby steps in modifications that eventually leads many to a large financial plunge in search of power

I know. I don't feel that way, but that is where the confusion can be. I don't think a cam is "bolted on" by any means. But some will try to slip it by as such.
Probably the biggest reason why you never really know when someone says "It's just bolt-ons"

I would call my TBSS just bolt-ons. Never touched anything in the motor, but does have a shift kit and stall.

What about a new intake manifold? Bolt on or not?

Is it internal work? That is basically how I sum it up.
