If you start Modding the lt1, you can cut the cost of having to do the swap, which is based off of what you can find. Peronally, unless you desperately want an ls1, I'd keep the lt1 and build a procharged 383stroker, which can make 600-700hp, if you got the cash.

How much power is a hard question to answer without knowing your budget. Keep the LT1 though. With the money you would waste going to a LS1 you could make plenty of power from the LT not to mention LT1s sound better than LS1s.

Keep the lt1 sounds so much meaner than the ls1 imo and the power you can get depends on how much money your willing to spend

Don't get a "chip" that is a waste of money. Depending if your looking for a good off the shelf cam or a custom grind The CC503 cam with ported heads and intake then have it tuned will be good for 380-400 whp. The best place to start is with full exhaust and gears.

Well, f bodies don't have true dual exhaust from the factory. They have a y-pipe into a single midpipe with dual outlets. You can have true dual exhausts fabricated however.

You could go with long tube headers, a high flow cat/cat delete (depending on emissions), and a nice catback like a Magnaflow. That would free up some horses. As far as cam, I believe Comp sells kits that come with lifters, springs, etc. along with the cam so you can install everything. And you can have your stock heads ported for more power.

Edit: also, the TB will come in handy once you have your heads ported and the bigger cam.
