I got the off the steering knuckle but now I can't get the lock nut or the tie-rod end itself to budge at all.... I've let it sit overnight sprayed with penetrating oil and wd-40 but still nothing..
The nuts on the tie rods have cotter keys in them, Did you remove the cotter keys?
You need a special tool to pop the tie rod ends out.
Google: tie rod fork
No I said already I got it off the steering knuckle using the fork tool but I can't get the actual outer tie-rod end to come off of the inner the lock nut and outer tie-rod end are pretty much fused.... nothing I have done can loosen it....
would I be able to avoid this by going and buying a inner tie-rod end and lock nut and just replacing the whole thing? My only issue is I'm not sure what all is inside that boot (where the steering rack is) can I just twist the inner end off so the outer comes with is and go grab an inner and lock nut?
I got it I put the tie-rod end back in the steering knuckle put the castle nut back on and used a pipe wrench and a torch.... the lock nut is still fused in place although that's not so bad because it keeps my alignment... but I got the new one on and it's all set
Thanks for the help man I appreciate it big time....
