Been getting po1404 for awhile now, cat has been changed still get the code. Car falls on it face under hard pulls like hills at 75 in fifth, never fone this before. Any input?
An EGR stuck open will be sending exhaust gas back into the intake. It normally closes at WOT. But if it is stuck open, then at WOT you're getting really hot exhaust gas getting pumped back into the intake.
This will inevitably lead to issues with the air/fuel mix, and the car can retard timing if it is picking up pinging/knock. It does this because it will normally adjust timing using the AIT sensor, and the MAF sensor. You're getting unmetered air recirculated and also hotter than originally recorded by the PCM. That'll make it go WTF in a hurry.
Solenoid might be bad, or the connector is corroded.
