Put in 180 amp, check engine light now stays on

I put a new 180 amp alternator on my 2000 camaro it's a base model with a 3.8. The check gauge light stays on now. It's running good and all gauges are showing good. Do you have any idea why. Please help. Thanks

Sorry, I created the title and made a typo. Changed to amps.

Got me wondering why he needed a 180 amp alt. Must have an exotic audio system. All gauges show good? No low oil light?

it is saying check gauges because something is reading out of the normal. I know on my 97 3.8 that light would come on if fuel level was low, low oil light came on, voltage gauge out of range, overheating etc.

Never came on for just a check engine light though.
