Scored used 3800 II long block today

The long and short is my `3.8 has chocolate milk in the oil and a serious knock. So I started the search for a new engine, I didn't have to go far the salvage yard about a mile from my house has probably 20 FWD cars with the 3800 in them. I found the newest car they have a 2004 Grand Prix with 95K on the clock. Pulled the spark plugs to check cylinders and pulled oil filter to check oil all looked good.

I also pulled the UIM and found some oil puddled in the cavities inside the the LIM. I assume this is from the EGR.
Spark plugs looked to be original AC Delco and very clean. I have to change intakes anyway so all new gaskets on top.

Best thing $90.00 with tax out the door. I will post pictures and updates as I move through the swap. I plan on Chevy orange for the block, all aluminum parts paint silver and updated valve covers.

Going back tomorrow to check out their 4th Gen Camaro section.

The forum has been a huge help on what to look for, one of the members even sent me a complete write up with pic's on how to do the swap. Thanks everybody for the help and keep up the good information

Picture of UIM removed. Any idea where the oil may have come from? Creep up intake bolt?

No coolant found where it is no suppose to be.

Thought you couldnt use a FWD 3.8 in a RWD car.

You can use the block. Upper end needs to be changed to rwd manifold and such.

Yes long block and heads only. Front and rear covers are the same as well though.
