85 Camaro Iroc Z-28 mods

I have a "85" Iroc Z-28 with a LS1 and MSD kit on it and was wondering what was some good mods I can do to it. My buddy has a standard RX-8 that I want to race pretty soon.....

First off, welcome! Sounds like a pretty sweet car. Got any pics? But I agree, a stock LS1 in a third gen would destroy an RX8.

Although, the first mods you should start with are the basics, intake, headers, exhaust, and then move on things like heads and cam upgrades. A head/cam LS1 with supporting mods easily makes over 400 rwhp.

I told him I would dust his ***,. Lol, but what kind of intake and heads. See I want my parts to be compatible with a 350 or another big engine so when I go to upgrade I can use the same parts

An LS1 or any LSX style engine won't have any major components like heads or Intakes that are compatible with a traditional 350 or any old school small block or big block chevy. It's a different Generation on engine. The LS1 is a gen 3 small block, the traditional 350 or smallblock is a gen 1 or gen 2 (LT1/LT4/L99)

It's pretty much the same shit as far as doing stuff like making power, just different style components For a different style motor.

I was thinking a magnaflow exhaust, getting the heads cleaned and shaved down and adding a cold air intake.... How would that work?

Yeah I look at some of the summit ones, but I didn't know if the were worth anything or not.. Would it be better the shave and clean the the ones I got or just buy a new set of headers?

heads and headers are two different parts.yo cab havevthe cylinder heads ported and shaved for heigher compression
headers are what carry the exhaust out of the heads to the back.

I don't think I have a carb , I have injectors. What else should I know about headers? Basically I'm going to use a set of hooker super competition cat back headers exhaust system, specter performance muscle car cold air intake. What else would y'all recommend?
