Yeah, I'm not a fan either. The top just doesn't look right on those early conversions and that trunk access cut out on the back hatch area looks like a bait well on a boat. Sorry, but blah.
I'd say if you are going to do it, max I would be willing to pay for it would be 800-1k. That is still probably too high though since he says it needs towed home. There could be other drive train issues that will surprise you later, and you don't want to be that deep in cost for the car to at least have a shot at recouping expenses to get it road ready should YOU decide to sell it. Motor won't bring much if you part it out since it is probably the dog crossfire 305. If there was that much of a market for them, then it wouldn't be listed for $1600 anyways. I'd say in this case, rare doesn't equal value.
