Yeah a T5 is only going to be on borrowed time behind a 383. Really not worth it to try to build it either. If you want a manual go with a T56.

He means it won't last long and it would more than likely be a waste of your time and money trying to build the t5

There was a member on here not too long ago with a 383 and a world class t5.
As long as you don't beat on it itll last a bit. Save up for a stronger muncie t4 or a t56 though

I've heard they're not all that great paired even with a 350. Especially if you're going to be driving it like a teenager

+1 and the winning statement...

It doesn't matter if you put a 5.0 liter in there, you beat the piss out of it, it'll show its age quick...you put something more potent in there, and start driving it like you stole it, you'll be picking up casing parts in no time...

It doesn't matter if you use the transmission behind a 350 or a 383. They're essentially the same engine. You can build a 350 or a 305, for that matter, that will have enough hp and torque to destroy your transmission. Not to say there aren't stronger transmissions available. Just because you build a 383 doesn't mean the transmission will come apart. It all depends on your driving habits. If you drive with some sense it'll last for years. And you can still get on it when you want, just not at every red light. The reality of the situation is that you can tear up anything if you try hard enough.
