Yes. I have used the same one on three diff engines. A 305, a 350, and a 406... Although I have heard guys say that your hp will change by 1-2 hp. Now as for that, idk if that thought holds water or not...

It will change a lot more than that cause of the cube difference alone lol but yes it will work. As long as they are both the same type (HEI or electronic)

How do i tell the difference of hei or electric?

Well a HEI has a big fat cap with the coil on top, there are different HEI distributors though. One has just two wires that plug into the cap from the dist. With a tach wire and a ignition wire. The electronic dist. Has a small cap
