Car has 69k miles. There is an intermittent rattling noise coming from around the bell housing. I've only heard it twice at idle but last night sounded horrible. The engine seems the be running fine oil pressure was at 40psi and temp at 210, I would hear it lightly when I'm in 2-6 rpms below 2k when I would stomp on the accelerator pedal. I will be dropping the trans to find the problem, but has anyone had a similar problem like this? I'm hopping it's something with the clutch

Your stomping the throttle below 2000 RPMs in 6th?

Anyway, I would suspect converter heat shield rattle.

I press the pedal about 1/2 throttle, when I snap the throttle. It never came to my mind to check for loose shields, thanks. Hope to check it this week end

2000 RPM in 6th = a minimum of 80 miles per hour.
You're snapping the throttle then?

No, I said below 2k not exactly 2k rpm, around 60mph when I try to accelerate I hear the light rattle

I was able to check it and when I tapped the y-pipe with my hand I heard a light rattle from the o2 sensor heat protector sleeve collar. I'm making a hanger for my exhaust dump and see if it help some, I'm going to check it again

Nice, gotta hate a rattle, especially one you can't locate. At least you don't have to drop the trans. :-)

I'm glad I don't,lol my first thought was my clutch was done but I didn't hear the noise anymore. What through me off was my oil level was less than 1quart low, there is no smoke coming from the exhaust. All I see is the down pipe wet with water
