So my car has been making a terrible sound when I start it. After it's warmed up for a little it goes quiet but if I'm not moving my car for a while. Turns out I think it's my idler pulley and my tensioner pulley (for sure the tensioner) I'm going to replace both of them just in case, but my question is should the pulley in front of my alternator move more freely or stiff like a pulley for an idler or tensioner?
As navy said the alternator should spin freely as long as the key is off, and obviously the belts off too.
