I've heard that a lot of ppl who rebuild Thier rearends (stock 10 bolt) usually blow them shortly after any comments or exp?

it all depends on how you drive. Ive had the "stock" 10 bolt in my car for ten years. The only thing i have done to it is put 3.73 gears in it. It has been on the strip alot over the years and has ran a best of mid 11s.

If you are prone to hard launches, clutch drops and such, that 10 bolt will not last long..

That is usually caused because the ring and pinion backlash and pinion depth and preload aren't set properly.
Best done by an experienced professional.

You will be VERY lucky to get $400 out of a used stocker....regardless of what parts are in it.
Probably closer to $300.

Just trying to help....
