Speedo change

The Camaro I have here in the UK is has been imported from Canada and so the speedo is in KM. Is it possible for me just to change the unit for a US one in miles and it will work fine without any reprogramming being needed? Also is the total milage stored in the car or in the speedo?

Thanks
Dave

Yes you can change the cluster without having to do any programming for it to function properly. The mileage is stored on the cluster though so you would have to have to have the cluster re-programmed to display the correct mileage.

Interesting, doesn't it also display MPH inside the KPH.
The ones here in the states are marked for both.
At least mine is.

Yes it does have the MPH on the inside of the KPH. It just would be nice to have it the other way round and have odometer read in miles instead of kilometers.

Doubt you can get it done here in America, unless the gm dealer does it. Most people don't touch it

Dealers can reprogram it. Takes a lot of work though to get them to do it. Although yours sounds like a pretty good reason.
6LE used to reprogram them too.
