Taller tires

Just bought some 18" corvette rims. 10.5" rear, 9.5" fronts.

Got 275/40/18 on front. Thinking of going 295/45/18. Not sure if there will be enough clearance with that tall of a tire on the rear. Anyone running that size? I like a meatier tire, but nothing crazy. Otherwise, I'll just go 295/40/18. It's just the tires are so expensive for this size tire.

If your car is lowered, I would go with the 295/40/18. A better fit would be a 295/35/18.

Keep in mind the 35/40/45 is the tire sidewalk height. This number is a "percentage" of the first number, in this case, is a percent of 295.

295 is measured in millimeters.

295 = 11.61" <--- tire width.
35 % = 4" <-- tire sidewall (section) height. Which gives you a 26" in tall tire. Which is pretty close to what comes factory on a Camaro SS.

Car is stock height, but I'm afraid to go with the 295/45's. Especially if they don't fit. Ordering online and who really wants to pay to ship tires back. I think I'll stay with 295/40's.

So 295/40/18 back, 275/40/18 on front. I believe that the rear should stand slightly higher than the front.

Just bought the 295/40/18's today. $211 each at Discount Tire (2). Nitto T555.

Got the 275/40/18's off eBay (free shipping) for $55 each with 75-80% tread left, which is an excellent deal and they look great. Same brand.

Should have all installed by this time next week. Will upload pics. Interested to see how they fill up the wheel well since my car is stock height.

A 295/40R18 has a 27.3in. tire diameter. You definitely want the 295/35R18 which is withing .1 of an in of the stock tire diameter of 26in. The front should be something like a 255/40R18.

Also, you will need to have the speedometer calibrated because it will now be reading wrong.

Got tires & corvette rims installed. The front 275/40/18 fit fine. A very slight rub on the plastic front wheel well cover, but nothing much. The rear 295/40/18 fit but needed to hammer/dent the wheel well in one area on each side. About 5 minutes of banging on each side, tires now flow with no rubbing. I can feel the car slightly taller, but no complains. Definitely rides smoother and traction is well improved.
