White smoke, or condensation? - video - '98 V6 Camaro

Is this normal? I don't smell anything weird coming from the pipes, just exhaust smell. I'm aware of what both coolant and oil burning smells like and it didn't seem like either of those.

This was taken when the car had been idling for a couple of minutes, on a cold startup. Hadn't been started in probably two months (I had it covered for the winter out in the yard, but I have it out now). But I have noticed this white smoke-looking stuff before on this car and wanted to make sure it wasn't anything indicative of trouble.

https://youtu.be/fXBjTsnrlZY

Thanks.

This would be normal for a cold day and warm engine (vapor), but not normal for a warm/hot day and cold/warm engine........ if it's just on initial start-up and goes away (or very thin smoke), it's nothing to worry about. If it's persistent and doesn't go away, this could be a sign of engine coolant getting in the engine. This can be the result of a serious issue like a blown head gasket, a damaged cylinder head, or a cracked engine block.

I would definitely keep an eye on the engine coolant level to make sure the engine isn't losing any.

In my opinion perfectly normal. I've noticed specifically the 3800 Series II seems to throw out more condensation than other motors I've seen. Both my Bird and Bonneville "condensate" quite a little bit upon startup - the first startup of the day usually. I also attribute it to a healthy catalyst. Water vapor is a direct by-product of the catalyst doing it's thing (in addition to normal combustion)

Another thought: there is a difference between smoke and vapor. Vapor is water/condensation which is what the catalyst does. Which usually "drips" out of the tailpipe.

So, what is actually coming out? Water/vapor/condensation? Or actual smoke?

Looks like typical water vapor to me, whatever condenses on the pipes is what drips out. The rest comes out as you see in the video.

Check the drivers side of your engine in that valley next to the upper intake and see if it's got liquid pooled there.
