Zexel torsen posi

I have the zexel torsen posi unit in my firebird. These are not clutch type posi. Is it still possible for these to wear out?

My car always locked them up with the v6, and did for a while with the v8. We recently had a lot of rain and I could not get both wheels to spin if it killed me. It always lights up the inside tire easily, but won't lock up.

I just changed the fluid and added posi additive. Ill see if it changed anything.

Posi additive doesn't much in the Zexel torsen rears (I had one too). You can try running a thick fluid like an 85w140 if this latest fluid doesn't work. 85w140 won't harm the rear. It is possible for the Zexel units to wear out, but it's rare (they usually explode first or the car ends up in a junkyard).

No change after the 80w90 and additive. I noticed excessive inward and outward play (pushing and pulling on the rear tires) could that cause anything?

What do you consider excessive?

How many miles does you car have?
Tomorrow at school I'll see if I can find the spec for the drive axle end play.
