Camaro Muffler sound....

Hi,
I have a 396 with Hooker headers doing the exhaust work. Any opinions as to what muffler set up to install??? I realize that sound is very subjective, but I really dont have a clue as to what would be a good choice..
thanks

I'm a fan of magnaflow. I would just go on youtube and search for a 396 camaro with different exhausts.

I have a hooker muffler and I really like it. It sounds a lot like magnaflows but it a little bit more quiet for driving around the city.

My recommendation would be Magnaflow as well. Quality pieces and a good sound.

Magnaflow for great quality to price ratio. Borla or Corsa if budget isn't a huge deal. Also, a brand called "Akropovic" makes really nice stuff. Their market is mainly sport bikes and exotics (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc).

I have a a 71 Camaro when I restored it I bought a magna-flow cat back system with a x pipe was a great system to install bolted right in with all the hangers and clamps, however when I finally fired I was so disappointed, the mufflers are poop for lack of a better term lol I was running headman headers with a camed 355 and a few other goodies but I just could not get that great cammy sound at idle it sounded great at full throttle but way to quite to turn any heads At the lights, so I recently swapped out the mufflers for a set of 40 sires flowmasters finally got that sound I was looking for any way that's my take on it

I installed the 40 series Flowmasters on my 67 Camaro several years ago and I gaurantee that the sound turns heads!
