Is there a trick to gaining access to clutch linkage?

I have a 74 firebird 400 and replacing the bellcrank zbar and a few prices of linkage looks like it might require removing the master cylinder or the front fender just to screw in the rubber boot for the pedal linkage. That can't be right can it? This things the worst design I've seen in a long time. The coiled brake lines just add more cut arm fun to the mix. Please tell me there's a secret way to get access! Thanks for any and all wisdom.
