Could GM make the tanks any smaller in these cars? I have a 97 3.8 maro and i think it's 15 Gallons and no sooner do i fill up it seems i'm right back there a couple days later How the hell do you guys do with the Z28's,must be brutal
My SS's tank is 16.8 gal.. And I get an average 24mpg's. (22.5 city- 27.5 hwy)
But.... The best I ever got was 29.5, the worst i ever got was 21.5..... both of these numbers were b4 the new short block.
97 and earlier cars got a 15.5 gal and 98+ got 16.8
Ya, should get better fuel mileage in warmer weather anyway. Extended high idle till warmup just adds to worse mileage in the winter time.
With same driving habits of course.
Also reason our cars' operating temps are higher, less emissions and better fuel mileage.
This. Use your trip odometer.
Fill up, reset it, and then when your needle hits "E" (which really means 1-2 gallons left, as said by the owner's manual for my '94), check the trip odometer and just divide the mileage you racked up by 13 gallons.
Doing this should give you an idea of your empeegees.
Man... Reading v8s getting better mileage than me makes me depressed. Somehow I get 17-18 when I drive with a heavy foot and 21 at the most when I drive like my grandma and mostly on a highway. Hmmm
