I have a 1988 305 tpi with a 130,000 Miles I'm second owner ..I'm looking to make a Little more power out of it .have thought about a lt1 cam ???an something like a torque converter out of a v6 astro van or s10??? with 373 gear ..(but not sure that would help me or hurt me on power) ..if these mods would help could I change the ecm chip from the 94 lt1 car an plug it straight in my ecm ??? An would I hlaf to change the valve spring?? If any one has done this tipe of change or something close I'm open to all suggestions..(exsept starting over with a 350 )..that will be latter .
...........................................................................
Things I have dun already...
New ac delco distributor,cap,rotor
8.5 msd plug wires,plugs
Ground out the excess metal from the bottom of the plenum..an made it as smooth as I could
Ground out the plenum ports to mach the diameter of the runners
A LT1 is a totally different motor with a totally different Computer setup so LT1 parts won't work. There is a hot cam made for the 305, a set of 205 double hump heads and you can have a new ECM chip burned from PCMsforless. That's probably the best bang for your buck. Also I'd recommend putting the screens back in the MAF, the screens allow the air to flow evenly over the resistors for a better reading.

PCMforless is who I used for my tuning on my car and they did a great job! I dealt with one of the original owners of the business, but I think they are based out of Ohio now, and it's a quick turnaround too. With a fresh engine, I asked for the fuel to be on the leaner side at idle to prevent washout of the cylinders, so they can certainly customize to your needs. If you change the cam, I would recommend measuring your push rod length and making sure your rockers are pressing down in the center of the valve stem. Changing a cam and machining the head and certainly change the push rod length. Just something to check if your going to make a bunch of changes. If your wanting better air flow through the mass air flow, you can have that ported and polished too. Make sure you do all of your upgrades before having your PCM tuned so that you know exactly was done to get the right tune.
Well yes I'm not sure about the ecm ..but the motors are both rollers an the only difrance in the cam is lift an duration an lobe separation an that should be able to be took care of by valve spring swap ..an as far as the 205 double hump heads (camel hump heads) I thought they were pre. 80s an had 202 valves not 205 an if thats the case a 202 valve would slam in to the side of the cilinder walls on a 305 if upgrade on the 350 can ..an camel hump heads are for flat tapped carderated motors ...I'm running a 305 tpi (tune port ) (roller) like I said not sure if it would work but thanks for your input
My bad I meant 202 not 205. A LT1 cam still won't work. Lt1s use an opti spark and don't have a gear for a regular distributor as the opti is front mounted on LT1 motors.
I no u mean well an every one here is looking to help every one ..but all stock lt1 cams still have the gear have tore plenty apart an put back together look up. ( 93/97 camaro z28 camshaft and cam shaft sprocket stock factory 5.7 l v8 lt1. ). EBay an look at the cam...

Yea I recon it just depends ....I called summit they are so expensive on cams its crazy ..I should be able to put the chip about of a 350 ecm around my same year u think ..
I think it would it would just have to be from a V8 car with the same fuel injection system. They made tune port injections and throttle body injection in the 3gens IIRC.
