Hey guys I am going to be tackling a nice little project shortly after Christmas. I am going to swap out my interior lighting to leds. I know that Superbrightleds has the plug n play for certain bulbs but not for things such as the odometer, the headlight switch, and the steering wheel controls. On superbrightleds they recommend using a resistor for the component leds but I do not see any on their site. Do I need resistors? If so, where can I find them? Should I go ahead and order the bulbs from superbrightleds and find the resistors separately?
^ That's the best site for buying the kits, but the links to his guide are broken. So buy the kits from this guy at LED Vault and use Keliente's guide to install them
Thanks for the links guys! Most of the bulbs have a direct replacement it seems, except for the steering wheel controls and the odometer. I know I need 3mm leds for those but I do not know if all 3mm leds are the same? What kind of resistor do I need? According to your link, Kris, a 470 ohm resistor should work for the leds. Is that accurate?
^thanks Kris! Resistors aside, I ordered all the bulbs I should need for my interior. Kind of expensive but oh well, it will be worth it when everything lights up blue
man, you do know that the birds have a red film over the back side of the gauges, HVAC, shifter, headlight switch and the door trim light...so unless you can find some way to get it off or buy custom gauges form 6LE (1993-2002 F-BODY Gauge AND HVAC, Headlight, etc... Overlays GROUP PURCHASE 10!!! - LS1TECH)your blue lights are not going to work...only red and white will.
Don't worry guys, the red film has no effect on me.... lol jk but I have done my research. I'm getting some McNord overlays for Christmas! So my interior is gonna be pretty different after Christmas
^Yeah I'd recommend it! I installed some cool white leds in the rear view mirror and the dome light earlier and it makes quite a difference! I can't wait to put the rest in :icon15:
