LS1 MTI Clear Air Lid installed

I wasn't really sure where to post this. I simply wanted to share my one picture of the MTI Lid installed. 1. I just wanted the clear lid, but 2. I don't have EGR anymore so I had a gaping hole in my SLP lid that was originally on the car, and wanted to get a new lid that didn't involve blocking a hole.

I also wanted to share with everyone that switches their lids from an SLP to something else, it was one heck of a PITA getting the MAF out of the SLP lid. I finally googled it, and found out people were taking hair dryers to heat everything up, so I did that, and 5 minutes later the MAF popped out.

I'm also aware all my bolts are rusted and pretty nasty looking, so my next item is to order the stainless steel bolt kit to make everything look better.

I just checked your album....Nice! How are the front clips holding up on yours? They are REALLY tight, I hope they don't spider.

One of them was broken when I bought it, the other 3 are still holding up.

Quick question you may know, why do these clear lids NOT have the egr hole in the right side? Is that an SLP thing? I thought it was to funnel o2 into the egr pump that puts it into the cats I believe. At least that is what I was told when they ripped it off my car lol. I'm wondering how a car with that setup would work then.

I thought the opening was for AIR. It's just a emissions deal like EGR. Pulls fresh air and mixes it with outgoing exhaust

The hole in the side is for the AIR, not EGR.

Thanks to you and Federal, yeah I knew it was with emissions, thankfully I don't have that where I live. So my point is, if you live somewhere where you get emissions tested, how do you pass? Are you supposed to drill a hole in your new lid for AIR?

If you wanted to keep AIR you would just buy the slp or another lid with the hole already in place.

Most places with emissions don't visually inspect if you have an OBDII car. They just scan for codes and if none come up you continue on. I passed my emissions test with no AIR, no cats, LT headers, and an ORY-pipe.

Unless you live in California or North Carolina. I know NC takes a visual on everything, personal experience. Well, personal experience in Cali too, but been 16 years since I had to deal with emissions in Cali.
