I did not replace it with one from a Trailblazer, but I did make some changes to adjust the feel. The changes I made involved filing down the plastic on the turn signal cam where the metal tension bars contact the curved plastic channels and in the end made it feel old and worn - it did not feel like it was going to break, but it did feel "limp". What I would recommend is very carefully bending the flat-V shape metal tension pieces away from the plastic contact patch a tiny bit, so that there is still tension from the metal piece to the greased plastic, but not as much tension as stock. BTW, it helps to add a nice smooth grease between the metal and the plastic to help it move smoother.
