GM has issued a Press Release about the new 2012 Camaro ZL1, a high performance Camaro which seems to be taking the place of what many have rumored to be called the Z28 would. GM has said that the 2012 Camaro ZL1 will be the fastest ever Camaro offered by Chevy. With 550 horsepower and the car is still in testing with more announcements to come about more specifications.
The Supercharged 6.2L LSA engine produces 550hp, and is attached to a high performance 6-speed manual transmission.
The ZL1 nameplate is derived from the 1969 All Aluminum 427 powered Camaro that only produced 69 units which makes it a very big collectors item in todays market.
