Barrett-Jackson: Chevrolet Camaro COPO ‘Vert Fetches $400,000 For Charity

It seems like just yesterday that this 2012 Chevrolet Camaro COPO convertible was gracing us with its presence at the 2012 SEMA show a few months ago at the Las Vegas convention center. It was unveiled at the Chevy Performance booth sitting up high and mighty for all to see. It was a car worth ogling over, that’s for sure. When attending such a show, you are expected to ogle. Go on, it’s okay.

This high-performance Inferno Orange Metallic Camaro just made its presence known again at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona and fetched a pretty penny, that penny being exactly $400,000 and all for for charity.

With so many charities to benefit, this chunk of change went to the American Heart Association. Being one of two (with the other staying with GM for awhile), what does the COPO have to offer its new master? Under the hood of this bad boy sits a 327-inch V8 engine mated to a 4.0-liter supercharger making it quite the beast to be reckoned with. The COPO makes 550 horsepower to the rear wheels with some nice drag slicks for traction. The transmission is a automatic Powerglide completing this race-ready package making it a topless quarter-mile dominator.

AutoBlog captured some pretty sweet high-res photos along with a video of the auction action. The video has all of the information on the vehicle if you happen to be interested.

This is one heavy duty Camaro as I’m sure you know. Would you want a high-performance convertible or would you prefer a coupe? No matter what, it’s one bad car.
