I was about to say, if your car is cool enough you don't really need that shit. I'm actually liking the new Z/28. Just not in white.

I have to have music. I've never had AC until I got the goat. I haven't had a chance to really use it. I love listening to the engine but if I'm going anywhere that's more than ten minutes away I need some music.

Music does help but a lot of the time I find myself doing what my grandfather always does, driving around with the radio off.

The tail lights are finally fixed and they were one of my biggest beefs with the 5th gen. I hated those ugly quad tails and always thought they'd look good with just two solid tails

Looks like I might be a Z28 owner again, I really like this car. Looks like their dropping weight too so we'll see how much effectively.

So with this release, is it safe to say it will V6, SS, 1LE, Z28, ZL1? Sweet.. 45-55k, great. lol.

I was listening to the Z28.com podcast yesterday and Chris Frezza was at the reveal in New York and got some interviews with key people involved in the development of the Z/28 and some heavy hitters at Chevrolet and the Z/28 is going to be priced above the ZL1. So what is that.....$70,000+?

Seriously **** that noise. I was initially disappointed in the new one because I was hoping for and expecting more of a complete redesign. Looking at it again though it is a step in the right direction, and it is nice, but not for that money.

It's not a total re-design because its still a 5th gen. The re-design will come with the 6th gen in 2016.

Right, but when I heard people talking about the new Camaro without seeing it for myself, I was hoping to see a 6th gen.

The Z/28 is the new "King Camaro" so it has the be the most expensive it's the top dog. You can still get the SS, 1LE, or ZL1 for less with the refresh. And you can get them all with the Recaro race seats that are standard on the Z/28. Plus you know either the factory and/or some aftermarket manufacturer is going to come out with refresh conversion kits. And the new Recaro seats are going to be able to work with the older 5th gens.

I wouldn't mind having a refresh 1LE with Recaros.

Yeah with a refresh body conversion it would be hard for me to let mine go.

I think on the CZ main site it says the z/28 makes less hp than the zl1 and its under the zl1 but over the SS

It's going to be priced higher than the ZL1 and that's coming from the guys at Chevrolet. It does make less horsepower that the ZL1, but its also 300lbs lighter than the ZL1 and 100lbs lighter than a SS. And the LS7 is a hand built engine. It's the big dog as far as size & power for N/A engines. I'm not sure of the Z/28 suspension. If its the the same system as the ZL1 or if its some improved one or what. But it should be better. It's a full blown road course racing car.

As far as the price for a Z/28 I kinda agree, but I'm going to reserve my final judgement till I see how it compares to the ZL1 on track lap times and skid pad numbers. And you know $12,000 - $14,000 of that price is going to be for the LS7 alone. But from what I heard, the Z/28 is a full blown track car that would be almost unlivable for regular street use, and the ZL1 is the heavier "Jack of all trades" that can be dialed into performing well at the drag strip, at the road course, and on the street. But they're both f*cking expensive. Lol. But I'm getting wet over the idea of a refresh 1LE with Recaros. Then saving up for a supercharger.

I don't see why it wouldn't be street friendly. All they did was remove a few creature comforts, not like they stripped it, welded in a cage and put in aluminum racing seats with a stiff suspension setup.

At that price, I would rather buy a used 5th gen, buy a body conversion kit, and swap in a forged LS7 for about the same price as a crate LS7, if not a bit less. I'd still have all of my speakers too.

Well, the whole "street friendly" thing is strictly relative. What one person is comfortable with may not be comfortable for the other. A lot of the weight savings came from 19 inch forged wheels instead of 20's which weigh less than half of the regular 20 inch wheels. and using carbon ceramic brakes and removing the "creature comforts" like the audio stuff and the back seats and A/C.

But a large chunk of the weight saving also came from removing a lot if not all of the dampening and acoustic stuff and using thinner glass. So road noise and engine noise and just basic outside noise could be an issue. And the suspension setup should be pretty aggressive, so dips, bumps, and potholes should be more "painful" than usual.

But I agree that for the price, I'd buy a older 5th gen, get a refresh conversion kit, and I'm not sure if they are doing it yet or not,(I haven't looked into it lately) but Chevy Performance is suppose to be offering all the 1LE cosmetic and performance pieces. Including the black ZL1 wheels. And from there just S/C it. At least that's the 5th Gen fantasy plan right now. Lol.

The source for the Z/28 info is the Z28.com podcast. Chris Frezza conducted the interview. It's the newest podcast.
