What year is your car? Those both look like the later model LT1 optisparks. Early LT1 (92-93) Optisparks look MUCH different than those.

They look the same to me except for the O rings on the new one

The shaft on the clean one looks a lot longer than the shaft on the dirty one...

.....and the shaft on the dirty one looks snapped....(the line isnt a clean, straight line..looks like the part with the two O rings is snapped off)

The dirty one is the one I took out and the clean one is new. I guess the other half of the shaft is In the camshaft and it won't come out. Did anybody see this before? Do I need to change the camshaft or can I just cut off half the shaft of the new optispark?

It sure looks like the shaft sheared in half on the old one /: maybe you can finess it out of there but no way would I cut the shaft on the new one...

Cutting up a new part makes about as much sense as buying a new TV and dropping a brick on it.

Figure out how to get the piece out somehow and install the new one.
