Question Formula LS1 swap

Hey, my names Nate and new to this site and somewhat Firebirds... I have a V6 3.4 96' firebird(base) and can get a 98' formula 1 engine swap, just wondering if my engine mounts will fit that engine??

First off, Welcome to F-Body Online Nate!

You're going to need LS1 Mounts, the V6 mounts wont work and the LS1 sits a bit lower.

Do you know all of the other parts you're going to need or no?
  • Complete Engine
  • Transmission (different bolt pattern)
  • Radiator
  • Fuel Pump
  • Engine Harness
  • Throttle Cables and System
  • New Susp. for added weight
  • Steering rack
Just making sure you know what you're getting into. It's been done before, and if you've got enough of the parts it's worth the money. If you've got just an engine, it's most likely not worth the money.

Heres more specifics
3.4/3.8 V6 to LS1

What he said ^

Good luck on it, and hopefully you get a good price on the engine. 9/10 times it's cheaper to save some cash, sell the V6 and then buy a V8.

Wow, i didn't realize how much it would take to do that.. i knew it would take more than just tranny and engine mounts but not the rest of that! The only reason i was gonna try this is that my girlfriends neighbor put there formula into a ditch and is junkin it so i was gonna get a bunch of free parts... thanks though!

If you can get the whole car ie: donor car, then the swap is possible. If he just sells you the motor/tranny, then don't bother.
