Drain plug t5 transmission

Hi,
I am trying ro remove my drain plug from my 86 irocz and i cant find the right fitting wrench or socket. It seems that the closest one is 9/16", but still have some play. Can anybody recommend what they have use in the past?

The plug is not an allen type plug, rather a square tip plug.

Thanks in advanced!

Square? You might be able to use just a 3/8" drive ratchet (no socket).

I know strange. Everywhere i read it says a ratchet. But this plug look like plug from a plumbing pipe. Square-4 corners tip like you would need a vice grip

It's not a recessed square hole? It's a square bolt? Use vise grips then or channel-locks.

Are you sure you are looking at a drain plug?
Oh, and, uh, a picture says a thousand words.

Send a message via AIM to 96firephoenix
Try a 1/2 8-point socket before you booger it up with vise grips or channel locks.

You don't have a wrench set? You can get an open-end wench on that.

Yep 9/16" is the closest one but it has some play. I don't want to strip it. I want to make sure i am not missing a special tool or something like that.

Try a metric size. Like a 12/13mm? 1 step down from 9/16 (SAE) size is 1/2"
