If I get this transmission crap fixed I'd probably want the trany tuned to improve shifting from bone stock, right? I would have to actually add some real performance mods before I'd get it tuned, but right now that's not even a consideration. Not really worth the money at this point for like 30 HP if I throw a bunch more parts at it and then get a tune.

You "could" have it tuned, but I would wait til you add parts then tune it For everything.

Isn't it a v6? Don't even waste the money on a tune or "performance" parts.

I talked to a recommended transmission shop today about the issues Harlock is having.

I gave him the basics of what I have seen and noticed:

-P1870 TCC Slippage code is set, checked with my personal scanner
-Car has a harsh shift from park to drive or reverse
-To shift into 2nd gear, you must push the RPM past 4000 or let off the gas
-The gears are not slipping when actually driving

He said the 1870 code could be a number of things, which I agreed. He said to have it out and get any external parts, like the TCC, solenoid, valve, etc., would be roughly $1000 which sounds reasonable to me (I asked if he would be able to give me a general quote on getting the car fixed). He said if it's something internal or if the case is warped, etc., he would not recommend a rebuild of that trany, but to put a remanned or fixed up one out of another car that's in better shape. At the very least he knew what the P1870 code was, what all could be setting it and that it could be something external from the transmission, which is what I think it is. Instead of him saying something like "It definitely needs rebuilt for $5000, bring it on in!"

He also laughed his rear off when I told him the car has had 10 owners .

I forgot to update this thread; it turns out the valve body was the culprit. I had a new one installed and it shifts fine now.
