I drive a 99 z28 Camaro and it squeaks like crazy. Every time i hit a bump the suspension squeaks. Its been doing it ever since i bought the car. Is there a way i can stop the squeaking without replacing the suspension. Like could i just remove the rust from the springs. Plus I'm only 15 and have no mechanical experience at all . So if there's a cheap way to do it by myself then that would be great. It has 78k miles

Welcome to the zone.

If your suspension is squeaking when you go over bumps (and probably a lot of time just driving too right?) it is most likely worn bushings. You can replace the bushings ansd it should stop the squeaks. I recommend using rubber bushings as opposed to the alternatives, they are just better IMO.

You may also be getting squeak from worn shocks and struts, which should be replaced at about 80,000 miles, so they may need replacing as well.

Depends on your definition of "replacing the suspension". At the very least you need to replace the rubber bushings.

Send a message via AIM to Superman
Narrow down whereabouts the squeak is originating from.

Probably bushings like others stated and use rubber the poly bushings are more for aggressive driving and can make your car ride rough normal driving

Any updates on this? Mine is doing the same of recent. Also where do you guys go to get your transmission mounts? When I engage the clutch you can see the shifter move up a noticeable half an inch.

Any parts store. Motor mounts may be bad for the tranny mount to get that way.

Tranny mount is FUBAR and probably in two pieces. Bad motor mounts = bad tranny mount.

The bushings themselves are usually cheap if you can find them by themselves, they're just pieces of rubber with a metal insert. They are a PITA to replace though because they are usually pressed into a small metal hole using a tool (press), with the part off the car. Most people just have a shop replace the bushings. Depending on the part, it might be cheaper/better in the long run just to go with an aftermarket piece that already has new bushings in it.
