Hahahaha. As easily as I kept up with that LS1 today, I doubt you would be much of a threat Sniper

Why do you need a shift light, can't you see the tach?

Actually yes I do. I've raced a bone stock LT1 before. Eddie doesn't have many more mods than me and he BEAT an LT1.

TJ, it seemed to me like you and the LS1 were just toying around, nothing serious. Go from a dig and see what happens.

Honestly can't remember the last time I raced or even toyed around from a dig. It's just more fun, and there's way more opportunities to get up beside someone on the highway and punch it. If only you were there today man. But of course, you probably would've been saying the whole time "that LS1 must have something horribly wrong with it that's the only reason you're keeping up!"

An Lt1 runs 14s from the factory. The 3.8 can run a 15 flat straight from the factory...don't believe me read this article.
Unsung Hero

Put a few mods on a 3.8 and it very easily can be a 14 second car. I don't see how it's that far fetched to think a modded 3.8 can beat stock LT1s especially those with 2.73 rears. Even if it doesn't beat it, the LT1 definitely wont be "raping" it by any means. Plus LT1s are getting to be older tired motors. Many out there are not performing as if they were brand new. I raced an LT1 trans am in my truck and beat it one time because it was running so poorly. I did race an LT1 Trans Am at the track and I DID beat it in my V6 Firebird. For the record, I'm talking stock LT1s here. I realize modded ones can be powerhouses and can be insanely fast. Just want people to stop underestimating the 3800.

I'm not trying to disrespect it at all. I actually like LT1s a lot. I'm just putting the two in perspective.

Can also get a lot further with an lt1 once you rebuild it

As I've said before, I think that the 3.8 is a great motor. I realize that it's not that far fetched for a 3.8 to take an LT1. Honestly, I don't really feel that my car is that fast. Mine is pretty much stock though too. It'd be nice if we could just put an end to the LT1 vs 3.8 bull shit, but I know that will probably never fully happen.

Agreed. I only chimed in because my name was mentioned...

Blame Battousai for saying it would 'Rape' mine (serious misinformation on his part) I'm not underestimating the LT1, but I'm going by what I know and have experienced. And 96Fbird, if we're talking about rebuilding, rebuild a 3.8 and add in a few small things and REALLY see the gap close.

BTW this thread sounds me more like a case of underestimating the 3.8, not the other way around

A 383 LT1 means its a forged, bigger cubed engine. Comparing that to a normal LT1 is like apples and oranges. If you wanna go that way, I'll say **** building a 3.8 and build an LS1 that will kill ANY built, street LT1. I literally know every part I would use down to the timing chain and gaskets off the top of my head
