86 mph in a 45 zone

Ok so real quick, before I fall asleep, I have a story that just happened. I was on my way home and in the town that I drive through to get to the house, it's only like 300 some odd population town. I ALWAYS fly through there. Yes, yes, the speed limit is 45, but no one drives 45. I'll drive 70 or so even when the Sheriff is sitting in town, it's all good though, cause we used to be motorcycle buddies, until he sold his bike. Anyways, he didn't care how fast I was driving, as long as there was no one else on the road . So tonight I come barreling through town, and its BARE, there is not one living soul on the road or in town. I'm cruising along, not really paying attention to the speed and here comes the straight stretch through town. As I'm sailing, I see headlights in my mirror turn on the road and blue/red lights along with it. I figured it was Tommy(Sheriff) just messin with me. So I go a little ways and not stop, when he finally caught up with me, I finally saw that it wasn't the sheriffs car. It was a trooper. What's a dang trooper doing in this town. There are NEVER troopers here, it's at least 80 miles to the nearest trooper station, and it's 11:30 at night.

So I pull over pretty quick once I realize it's the state patrol, and he gets out and starts to lecture me about driving and giving me sh*t and asking me why I didn't pull over. He said he clocked me going 86mph Anyways, Long LONG story short, Tommy(Sheriff) was pretty close by and picked up the call, he showed up and "took" it from there. He let me go with nothing but an appointment for lunch on Thursday. haha, God I love knowing people! I lucked out on that one though!

You sure did luck out. I'm curious what the sheriff had to say that persuaded the state trooper to let you go.

you guys must have had other speeding tickets in the past, to lose your licenses.

when i was 18, i was driving to work, (which i was late for), it was about 4am, and a state trooper pulled me over for doing 95mph in a 55. got me a $300 ticket, had to go to court and take an agressive driving class, but once i took the class i got those points knocked off. never had my license suspended or nothing like that, ever. that was my first speeding ticket, though.

and...wow...R6Biker, you were very lucky!

I'm going to call Tommy today and talk to him and see what him and the trooper talked about. I was sweating it though when the trooper popped out of his car. Sorry to hear about your licenses getting revoked. I've got most of my bases covered when it comes to getting out of trouble.

I lost mine for 6 months. I had one 3 point ticket a year before. Other than that my record was good.

Wish I was friends with my county's sheriff. One deputy that I know saw me the day after he clocked me doing 75 in a 45 and asked what the hell I was going so fast for.

30mph over in GA was automatic loss of license back then for reckless driving, he said I was lucky cause he could have to me to jail but didn't. I lost them for 6 months had to take the drive class, pay a shit load of money, take the driving test and computer over again before I could get them back..

Dam!! you're lucky. Last time I got pulled over for going 74 in a 55 work zone on the interstate (I-20), double fined, then fined me for not having registration papers in car, and threatened to make me pull my tint off on the side of the interstate. Just Dam!! Glad you got out of it. Lucky

Speaking of riding in a police car, when they "redesigned" the crown vics in 2003, the older sheriff here was my best friend, Robby's Uncle, and we used to go to his house all the time. When he first got the new vic, he let his nephew and I take it for a spin around the neighborhood, I was 18 at the time but that had been the fastest car I had ever been in. I was suprised, I figured they were just played up granny cars used for transport back then.
