Okay hello my husband has been trying to figure out his 99 camaro 3.8 for steady 2 months and he's much too prideful or stubborn to ask for any help or admit he just is at a loss .. so he's what I know Oct 22 the car ran out of gas a week prior the gas gauge went haywire and was not working ..so gets gas into the car still won't start it cranks won't fire .. repairs alternator, battery , camshaft position sensor, egr valve , fuel pump fuel, filter he's reset the computer , reset the battery , ran the ground wires , checked fuses ... when he reset the computer it threw codes for the crank shaft sensor and egr valve ,, so he's repaired them , fuel pump was just a guess and prob needed replaced anyhow so after this install of the 3 it then throws p1514 code ? .. which he's looked up but why would this code not be throw with the first 3 codes ? Also the fob is dead or broken I'm not sure could this keep stalling this car? Also the security light has a mind of its own could the running out of gas somehow trigger the vats system on this ?It will.crank all day just won't fire ? Or any other suggestions ? And I'm asking for my husband who's been tiresly putting hours into this after work , trying to figure this car out . So if I said something that did not make sense I will try to explain better if asked .. he also is very prideful
man and would.never ask for any help on his own . He is running ragged on this ..just a woman in his corner any suggestions I'll throw his way ..appreciate it fellas.

P1514 GMC: Code Meaning, Causes, Symptoms, & Tech Notes (engine-codes.com)

The 1514 code is a throttle issue. The 3.8 is a "Drive By Wire" system. Which means, the throttle is controlled electronically, Not by a mechanical cable. This means the system has a few sensors.

No, running out of gas isn't going to throw the Security light. If the Security light comes on at all. there is a VATS issue. A VATS issue will create the symptoms y'all are experiencing. The VATS system has 3 stages. 1st stage is a light on but will still start. If nothing is done to fix the issue, it can go into the 2nd stage, which is an intermittent start/no start. The 3rd and fibal is a flat out no start....... not even an engine cranking. This one MUST repair the VATS issue. Which is usually a worn out Chip in the ignition key. A new "chipped" key is required. Or do a VATS bypass.
