How do you do a VATS bypass? Thanks
Do you still have the original ignition key? If so, Is the VATS Chip warn? You can try a VATS bypass. If you do I recommend installing an aftermarket security system.
The chip in the key is a resistor. It can be 1 of 15 values. You will need to measure the resistance of the chip in the key, if it's the original key. This will tell you what OHMS value you need for the bypass. Once you know this do a search on ebay and get a premade one, plug and play. It's a little more $$ than just getting the resistors and making one yourself, but it is a lot cleaner and well worth the cost. This is what I did and it works flawlessly
Here are the ranges:
VATS# Resister Value and its Range
1) 402 .......... .386-.438
2) 523 .......... .502-.564
3) 681 .......... .650-.728
4) 887 .......... .850-.942
5) 1.130 ....... 1.085 - 1.195
6) 1.470 ....... 1.411 - 1.549
7) 1.870 ....... 1.795 - 1.965
8) 2.370 ....... 2.275 - 2.485
9) 3.010 ....... 2.890 - 3.150
10) 3.740 ..... 3.590 - 3.910
11) 4.750 ..... 4.560 - 4.960
12) 6.040 ..... 5.798 - 6.302
13) 7.500 ..... 7.200 - 7.820
14) 9.530 ..... 9.149 - 9.931
15) 11.800 ... 11.320 - 12.290
Again, I do NOT recommend doing the VATS bypass without adding an after market security (alarm) system, after having done the bypass.
